Seems like this has been a good winter so far. By that I mean that we were not under several feet of snow by Halloween like last year. Today we can still see the ground after a few days of thawing. But this weekend looks like it could change that.
Been waiting for word on the winter campers supper. Probably the coldest day..but it hasn't been that bad yet...
But every year after I turned 60 the winters have made me feel like I am going to freeze without going outside..
Alan is mostly moved. The lady that they bought the house from had the realtor from Hell...This woman shouldn't be selling houses that is for sure. There is a long list of reasons. But she was mostly interested in getting her commission before Christmas which she would have had if she wasn't so stupid...
But the house is all on one level that makes me feel good because the one they were living in had a lot of steep steps to the bedrooms...always worried me.
The fire department is having a steak dinner and show as a fund raiser. Del and I both thought it was going to be catered but come to find out the firemen are doing it all.. I am not going I am not a fan of rib eye..or prime rib for that matter. I like tenderloin mostly. But I suppose that Del will be working up there all day tomorrow and Sunday too since it is Sunday nite.
Super Foods one of the grocery stores I shop at in O'Neill had chicken hind quarters for 53¢ a # so we bought 2 10# bags. I thought I would cook up a bunch today for chicken soup and tomorrow use the rest of that bag to make some stock..
I have come to like chicken stock.....well I never knew there was such a thing till they were using it on Food Network. Racheal Ray even has her own....which I like a lot... Swanson brand is a little on the weak side. Emeril makes a good one and Kitchen Basics is ok too.
I know a lot of people are using it now and not the broth because the stores are usually out of stock.. and the stores around her don't have much of anything but Swanson.
I get spoiled in Yankton in the summer time. They have a lot of stuff that I can't get even in Norfolk....but then when I watch the Food Network I wished I could get some of the stuff that they get all the time in NY.......but we don't have the crowds and the crime...lol
